Prom!

Okay so last night was finally prom and it was amazing! The party in the limo with the yummy fake champagne was the perfect warm up. After many many many whole year, group and individual photos from the photographer it was time to eat. The food wasn't the best but what do you expect from the football stadium that my school books every year?
The we had the year book awards. One of my best friends D won 3rd in best looking and another one of my bezzies S came 3rd in best artist. Both were well deserved, but the best was the fact that another of my best friends L won prom queen!! We were all in shock but again it was well deserved.
Then the disco started; and the crazy times begun.
Everyone looked amazing and there was a full range of dresses and colours (we even had a kilt):
Long dresses
Short dresses
Princess dresses
Short at the front long at the back dresses (not sure if there's a technical name)
These are very on trend right now and look gorgeous.

As for me?
Prom dress (okay so the lighting is really bad and it looked MUCH better on)
Prom hair: half up-half down, curled and french pleated at the back
Prom nails. These were super easy and sparkly (let me know if you want a tutorial)
Obviously there was also shoes bag and jewellery.

So that was prom,

Alton Towers

So today to celebrate the end of exams, my school organised a trip to Alton Towers! I've only ever been twice before so I was super excited. We got straight on Nemesis which is one of the major rides (and my favorite). Well after that came the rain. We all groaned and dived for the rides that were indoors, like Duel which we ended up going on twice (I won with a high score of 40,700. If anyone can beat that then let me know!) Yeah so then it started thundering and lightening so ALL the rides had to close which was not fun.
Instead we went into the aquarium which was actually pretty fun. They have these little shrimps that eat the dead skin off your hands - like those fish pedicures (if anyone has tried that before then please let me know what it is like).
After that, we decided to go on the water rides seeing as we were already wet, they made me go at the front. Then the rain eased off a bit and the rides reopened. But the ques for allthe major rides were huge, especially the new one. So we went on the less major rides like the Runaway Mine Train and Ripsaw. But we ended the day by going on single rider on oblivion which was much quicker and me and D ended up on the same one anyway. It was so fun! If you've not been before, this is what it's like:

It looks much higher when you're on it! Also, the spry round the edge sprays you with water, yet somehow D who was on the back row stayed dry. Never mind. So yeah, it was a really fun day!

That's all for now,

Lip balm review

Okay, so I'm kinda addicted to lip balms. I never go anywhere without them. But because I'm completely broke  all the lip balms I have are under £5.
Most of my current lip balms
I'd give the prices, but they all vary between shops, but most can be brought from Boots or Superdrug. But anyway, here's a short review.
Okay so I was excited to use Burt's Bees but I was kinda disappointed. It doesn't really moisturize my lips very well and the tin one is actually  really hard to use. It is quite hard and next to impossible to even get out of the tin. Having said that, what I did like about the tin was that it was really minty and when I applied it, it cooled down my lips and I can't really describe the sensation but it was pretty awesome.
The Palmer's' one is quite moisturizing but it's too thick and left my lips all gungy with the stuff.
I had high expectations of the simple lip balm because I use a lot of their products due to my sensitive skin and I'm impressed with them, but it wasn't very good. It might just be me being picky but it wasn't very effective and didn't last very long so I had to keep applying it.

Now Nivea is good and never disappoints. I took the original Nivea on holiday and it was awesome for soothing my lips when the were irritated from being in the sea. The milk and honey (shown above) is my favorite of all the Nivea's and it's nice and cheap. I'd definitely recommend this one.
I think The Body Shop gets hyped up a bit too much, but it's still good though. The one in the pot I don't like. It's not very effective and again it's too thick and leaves my lips all gungy with the stuff, but it smells AMAZING, especially the pink grapefruit one shown above. The aloe lip care one is better it's really thick but it absorbs slowly for long-lasting effective protection and moisture. Seriously, I'm not exaggerating when I say that I applied this at 11:00 this morning and it's now 5:10 and I'm still on the same coat. The only thing is that it's really sticky, so tie your hair back if it's windy! (Also this one is £6, but it was a gift so technically it was free).
Vaseline: an oldie but a goodie. Thick but not too thick and it's not sticky. It's effective but doesn't last very long, I like it though. Super cheap, again I'd recommend it.

Blistex is officially one of my favorite lip balm brands. They have really unique application tips and they are effective and long lasting. Lip massage (blue) is my favorite and maybe my favorite lip balm and it's under £3.  Soothing splash (grey) isn't as good I'm afraid. It's not so much a moisturizer but more to sooth irritated lips, but I'll admit that I was mainly draw to it because it was a roll-ball. But yeah, I'd recommend it.
Well that's most of my current lip balms. If anyone knows of anymore good lip balms to try in England for under £5 then please leave a comment.

Oatmeal face mask

I love this mask because it's cheap, 100% natural and only uses one ingredient: oats! The soul purpose of this mask is to nourish and sooth the skin, so it's good for everyday or if your skin is feeling a bit irritated.

1) Get a handful of oats...
2) Close your hand into a fist (with the oats inside) and let water run through so the oats are wet...
3) Add a few more drops of water to the oats.
4) with your other hand, press down on the oats to release the milky stuff from the oats and rub that on your face.
5) Then just rub the oats on your face like you would apply any mask.
     *Warning-it's going to get messy!*
6) Okay, now you have a choice, you can either wash it straight off and use it as a wash or leave it for 10 minutes until it dries, then wash it off and use it as a mask.

You can use this mask/wash daily or less frequently it's completely up to you. I love this mask/wash and use it all the time and because it only uses one natural ingredient, you know you're not putting anything nasty on your face.

See you soon, love,

I'm a genius?

So I was in town with my peeps D and S. We were trawling through Primark for D when S got tired and warned D that she would sit down in a minute. Less then 20 seconds later she sat down so D retorted "Wow, your minutes must be like Venus minutes". After a confused look to me for an explanation, I explained to S that Venus has shorter years so shorter minutes because it's closer to the sun.
"See?" S said, "that's why you two are geniuses and I'm not. I'd never have known that!" "Well it's just common sense because time must be shorter if Venus is closer to Earth" said D. "Um, the Sun" I corrected. "See!?" S cried, she pointed to me, then D then herself, "Genius, slightly less genius, not a genius!"
The story wasn't that interesting, I just wanted to get it down in writing that I was called a genius.

That's all for now,

Jake, what time is it?!

So this morning I was woken up to a text, usually I'd of just gone back to sleep but I assumed that it was a wake up text from me mum as she is insistent upon doing in the holidays  so I don't sleep in too long while she's at work. So me in my groggy state (what with me NOT being a morning person and everything) stumbled to where I thought I left my phone (I have one of those bunk beds without the bottom part so there was climbing involved) only to find out my phone was by my bed so I climbed back up only to find out I had a pointless text from my phone network.
Usually this would put me in a bad mood (as I said: not a morning person) and thus setting my mood for the day. But I went down and watched Adventure Time while I ate breakfast. I've only discovered this show recently but it's awesome!
Adventure time title screen.

Characters.
The show is really random but really adorable because the animation style. It follows the adventures of Finn the human and Jake his magic dog. They are the heroes of their world and Finn is constantly trying to win over the heart of his crush Princess Bubblegum. At first I was like 'huh? What is the point of this?!' But now I love it almost as much as I love Spongebob (but that's a whole different story).
I love most of the characters, especially: Lady Ranicorn (Jake's girlfriend) Marceline, Ice King, BMO, Peppermint butler and Gunter.
Gunter is one of the Ice King's penguins and he's pretty cute...
But possibly the most adorable thing to ever make an appearance on Adventure Time is the baby fire wolf; who gives little yelps, does back flips and bursts into flames at random intervals...
(Okay so the picture doesn't exactly capture the cubs full cuteness, to get the full effect check out the 'Thank You' episode)

Adventure time is shown in little 10 minutes (or 15 if you include adverts) episodes shown two at a time on Cartoon Network at various times during the day. So you should go and check it out, seriously, you'll love it at any age!

That's all for now, talk soon,
Naomi xxx

No more school!!!

So last Wednesday, I officially finished school! It's so awesome to finally leave that place and have all my GCSEs over and no revision for a while. I feel like I don't know what to do with my evenings anymore because I've been spending them revising for so long, but I guess there's plenty I can do. Because it's only June and everyone else is still at school it means I get like a 10 week summer holiday! Yay!
This is probably the longest one I'll ever have though. So I figured now was probably the best time to start a blog now that I'm not revising anymore, and also, it will give me something to do before I go on holiday and while I have too little money to go out any where (if anyone knows any cheap (or free) days out ideas then please let me know!) otherwise I'd probably just spend it in front of the TV.
But yeah, no school; it's been a long 12 years but I hope it's worth it (results in August). If you're still got school at the moment then just hang in there for a few more weeks, it's almost summer! You'll have this to look forward to soon too. Also, good luck with any exams.
So yeah, that's why I've only started blogging now, and I hope you stick with me,
